  • 4 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1-2 tablespoons red food coloring Adjust to achieve desired color
  • 1 cup chocolate chips Optional but recommended

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13-inch baking pan.
  • In a large bowl, melt the butter and mix in the sugars until well combined.
  • Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture until just combined.
  • Stir in the red food coloring until the batter is beautifully colored.
  • If using, fold in the chocolate chips.
  • Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and smooth the top.

Baking

  • Bake for 25-30 minutes, checking for doneness with a toothpick.
  • Let the brownies cool before slicing into squares and serving.

Notes
