  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 inch ginger, grated Fresh ginger is recommended for best flavor.
  • 1 can (14 oz) tomato sauce
  • 1 cup heavy cream For a richer consistency.
  • 2 tablespoons garam masala The star spice.
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric
  • 1 teaspoon cumin

Preparation

  • In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat.
  • Add the chopped onion, garlic, and ginger, and sauté until the onion is translucent.
  • Stir in the chicken pieces, cooking until browned.
  • Add tomato sauce, garam masala, turmeric, cumin, salt, and pepper.
  • Simmer for 15-20 minutes until chicken is cooked through.
  • Stir in the heavy cream and simmer for another 5 minutes.
  • Garnish with fresh cilantro and serve with rice or naan.

Notes

Make a double batch and freeze half for later. Reheat gently to avoid separation of cream. For extra flavor, brown the chicken in batches and adjust spices towards the end for seasoning.
