  • 1 package puff pastry Available at most grocery stores; croissant dough can be used for a flakier texture.
  • 1 cup dulce de leche or chocolate filling Use your favorite filling.
  • 1 cup sugar For the cinnamon-sugar coating.
  • 1 tablespoon cinnamon For the cinnamon-sugar coating.
  • 1/2 cup butter, melted For brushing on the cruffins.
  • 1 large egg For egg wash.

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Roll out the puff pastry and cut it into squares.
  • Fill each square with a spoonful of dulce de leche or chocolate.
  • Roll the squares into cylinders and place them in muffin tins.
  • Brush the cruffins with egg wash and sprinkle with cinnamon-sugar mix.
  • Bake for 15 to 20 minutes until golden brown.
  • Let cool slightly before serving warm.

Notes

Make these in advance up to the baking stage and store in the fridge. Bake just before serving for fresh, hot cruffins. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 2 days. Reheat in the oven to regain crispiness.
