Ingredients
  

Dry Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Wet Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened Make sure it's at room temperature.
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 tablespoons milk

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  • In a large bowl, cream the softened butter and sugar with an electric mixer until light and fluffy.
  • Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until fully incorporated.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, mixing on low speed until just combined.
  • Mix in the milk until the dough comes together and is slightly soft.

Baking

  • Scoop tablespoon-sized portions of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  • Bake for 8 to 10 minutes, or until the edges are set but the centers remain soft.
  • Allow cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

Serve them plain or dusted with powdered sugar. They can also be paired with fruit or nuts for a snack box. Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 4 days or freeze for longer storage.
